Menvier Nib Help!

HI Folks, we are having 'issues' with expanding an existing Menvier TS system, we think the distance between buildings (about 100mtrs) is the problem. Menvier suggest we need a TS-NIB
to boost the signal....something they (or at least Coopers) no longer manufacture. Does anyone have a TS-NIB I can have/buy or has anyone got an alternative solution ??? Thanks Stu the TEABOY !

I have used quite a few of these DVRS over recent years and found them quite good value considering the amount of functions they seem to have. I don't generally look anywhere else for a DVR unless it needs remote monitoring then will install a DM or an Adpro. I need to replace a 4 year old domestic 16 way VXM4 that has recently blown up. Videcon no longer make these and their updated version has different live screen display configurations.
The problem I have is the customer wants what she had, a live screen display showing 12 cameras with 1 big one in the middle showing the gate.
Does anyone know of a DVR in a similar budget range that will give this or a similar live display configuration. They just need to see all cameras but one bigger than the rest at the same time. They also opened the gate via a controlled output through an internet connection so this would still need to be possible.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Got a customer wants to have a camera in an animal shed on a farm ,has any one got any experience in which are the best 3G modem routers.
Risco Nova4 Wireless Receiver

Any idea if these are any good? Obviously the Risco PIR's arent compatible with the ESP receiver.

Has anyone installed or delt with them before? If the concenses is they are rubbish can anyone recommend a decent 8-16 Zone standalone receiver for hardwired panels specifically for external use?
Back Up Battery For Galaxy 8 Plus

Hi I'm Andy and I'm new to this forum. I had a galaxy 8 plus system fitted about 10 years ago at my previous address by ADT. When I left I took everything to do with the alarm except the wiring with me. At this place, it has an Accenta mini that has just stopped working...keypads not responding. So Im going to swap it for the galaxy 8 plus. I seem to have lost the backup battery over the years and I know Ive done a bit of research and need to rewire the detectors with a 1k resister. Can somebody please tell me what spec of back up battery I need and also any problems that might crop up because of swapping the panels over.

Many Thanks
Andy

Hi all - looking for a little help with this system.

We've recently moved into a new house with the 700L. It's just been serviced prior to us moving in and all seems to be working correctly.

One thing I'm really struggling with, however, is the part set function. With the exception of the entry points, it's PIR only, so the isolated zone is in the landing.

Setting the alarm clearly shows the part zone set and it lets me set and go through the living room and up the stairs. When up the stairs, I can walk past the landing PIR and nothing happens, as expected. However, when I go back down the stairs, the alarm is instantly triggered by the living room PIR.

Am I missing something here? I obviously want the PIRs to fire the system, but given I get up around 6am in the morning, can't imagine this will impress my neighbours every day!

As an aside, would it be worth upgrading this system (although well serviced, it's been in the house since it was built in 1996).

Thanks in advance.

Squiggs

Garage Alarm System

A bit of background first.

My father has a garage / workshop at the bottom of the garden and so is remote from the house. There is vehicular access to the garage by a private access road which serves all the houses in the street, and a personal door into the garden. A recent attempt was made at breaking into the garage by both the vehicular and personal doors by removing some of the timber.

There is an alarm in the garage which I fitted about 1993. The panel is an ADE Optima XM6 panel with contacts on the two wooden doors giving vehicular access and the personal door. I have also fitted a PIR which covers the windows as well as the doors. The siren is mounted facing the house.

In this case the alarm did not trigger as there was no entry into the garage. So the questions are:

1. Would it be worth adding shock sensors to any of the doors?
2. Would it be worth adding an additional SCB bellbox on the gable end facing the access road? Does it advertise or deter?
3. Is it worth updating the panel?
4. Are there any radio links that can be used to connect the garage alarm to the house alarm that will trigger either a full external alarm or internal sounder in the event of an activation in the garage? The garage alarm is difficult to hear at the front of the house.

I can provide diagrams if it helps.

Thanks for any advice or input.

Gardtec 595 Help With Tamper Switches

Hi everyone
I hope someone can help me,
I fitted a gardtec 595 wireless system 2 years ago at home, which worked fine, but i really wanted to use hard wired pir sensors, because of the low battery issues, so i went out and bought hard wired pir's, i used 8 cord telephone cable for all the pir sensor.
The pir sensors are gardtec COSMOS DTRK-115DTI, which have a
12VDC: Power Supply input.
ALARM: Normally closed output.
TAMPER: Normally closed dry output..
I needed help connecting up the tamper and the alarm to the main control panel.
The manual has given a few different ways of wiring eg. ELF1(end of line format 1) using 6k8 and 4k7 and 12k resistors, or ELF2 (end of line format 2) or detector using wired biscuit etc.
which one would work best for me i have attached some diagrams please view.
Would i connect the 2 wires from my 1st pir to AZ1, and pir 2 to AZ2 etc,
which pair on the control panel do i connect all the tampers to, or do i connect the tampers in series so they are all linked on 2 wires.
please advice
Thanks.

Esp Infinite Control Panel Battery Change

Hi,

I've got an ESP Infinite System which except for the mains wiring I installed myself a few years ago. I now need to replace the control panel battery and am looking for tips. Battery changes for the PIRs have been straight forward using the 'bypass' function before hand but this isn't available for the panel. I remember opening up the External Siren that there was no way of getting round at least a short burst of alarm as you took the cover off so was looking for tips on opening the control panel without pissing the neighbors off too much.

Have the battery ready but just wanted to get the procedure straight before opening up the panel. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi All

Hi

I got into installing and programming my alarm after the electrician that fitted it got a bit out of his depth with the programming and set up. He had done a good job on other electrical work on our house and wired up the ESP Infinite to the mains ok. He'd got everything fitted but got stuck/lost interest on the programming. From looking at the manuals and speaking to him it was clear he wasn't going to get his head round it anytime soon so I decided to just do it my self. It took a while but once set up it has worked well. After a couple of false alarms in the early hours from misaligned tamper switches I went round a re-installed all the PIRs as well. Since then we've only had a couple of false alarms in 3 years, both from a spiders.

Only work it's required has been battery changes, and now the control panels up for a new one I'm heading over to post for tips on the Control Panel section.

Having said the above if I had to do it again I would probably get a pro to fit a wired Alarm to save my time and to avoid having to persuade lots of plastic PIRs to open for battery changes without breaking!
